Review of King Kong (1933) by Leighton T — 21 Aug 2009
I give it 5 stars because it's a classic. i'm not really a big fan of the monster genre but I wanted to see this for my interest in film history. of course the special effects look weak compared to what we have nowadays but I can see where people in 1933 would have been impressed.
though some aspects of the story seem ridiculous; like why would the natives have built a huge wall to keep kong out but put a door on it that's big enough to let him in!? and if kong could climb the empire state building why couldn't he climb the wall?? overall I just found it to be a sad story - kong really is a tragic character.
