Review of King Kong (1933) by Jack W — 01 Dec 2009
A classic epic adventure. Many would view the film as very dated, yet that is easily looked past. What they did accomplish at the time is remarkable. I do have issue with the complete and utter racism in the film, with the insipid portrayal of Chinese and the ignorance and simplicity of the tribal people.
I do think Kong symbolizes a certain fear amongst ruling class Americans, especially during the 1930's. As for Fay Wray, her performance was great but after awhile could she have stopped screaming? Still, a really good film and fun to watch.
