Review of King Kong (1933) by Curren W — 19 Aug 2010
Apart from innovative effects, elegant performances, and a spooky tone that still manages to frighten people to this day, even if it's just a little, the best thing about King Kong is how thought provoking it is.
It brings the audience into the monster and shows that he's only attacking in self defense because he believes that they're attacking either him or the love of his life. The fact is monsters are just as afraid of us as we are of them.
It also manages to show the audience that monsters can care, as he's willing to protect his golden bride even if he has to die for her. "It was beauty that killed the beast." Overall, King Kong is a must-see piece of cinematic gold for any big cinema buff.
