Review of King Kong (1933) by Chris B — 24 Jun 2012
Not much needs to be said for a film with the Classic status all over it and it's reputation known throughout the world. Unfortunately I feel that a lot of people my age tend to look past older films due to their dated effects and tame story lines.
I know when I was a teenager and even in to my twenties, that older films were hard to find and due to vhs and dvd's limitations looked much worse than originally intended theatrically. With blu-ray I am growing my collection of Classics with each passing release day and am finding all kinds of gems! While most people look at a film like King Kong and say look how cheesy that is, they forget this was made in 1933! That's nearly 80 years ago and for the time was cutting edge and I find it amazing what they could pull off in that time! This was a great B&W film that was as every bit great as it's reputation presented it as! Highly Recommended! The film currently ranks at #41 on AFI's Top 100 Films of All Time list.
