Review of King (2006) by Shannon S — 22 Jun 2006
Gael Garcia Bernal is brilliant in this movie. I can't believe how nearly perfect his American accent was. The titular character was so weird and crazy that I have to love him, and I liked the Born Again Christian backdrop of this story.
This is not a movie for everyone. It explores some taboo themes. But I liked where it took us. The movie plays out like a Greek tragedy, or possibly an allegory for American relations with the third world.
