Review of Killshot (2008) by Tony P — 29 Jul 2009
The first ten minutes are wicked, but once Tom Jane and Diane Lane take the foreground, their unmatched craft and unconvincing relationship drags the film behind. Also, If it were not so inconceivable that a seasoned assassin (Rourke) would take on a ballistic hot head (JGL), this movie would have been more tolerable.
But as the film goes on, this circumstance proves to be a continuing conflict, thereby severing any capicity to suspend dibelief. Only occassionally does the movie feel like its from the stock of Elmore Leonard.
But even when it's not, Rourke's work is still immensely enjoyable. Plus, the last few minutes do offer some nice surprises. A fair movie, but I'd be curious to see the film prior to the deletion of Johnny Knoxville's reportedly horrendous performance.
