Review of Killing Them Softly (2012) by Tuukka P — 03 Apr 2014
Pitt and Dominik reteam after Jesse James biopic with a realistic modern crime story about a heist and the aftermath in the post-economic collapse USA. Very promising story doesn't quite know what is wants to be - Mamet/Tarantinosque take or a gritty and realistic take on the subject matter.
Essentially this is a short slice (90min) of a much bigger story with good dialogue and performances. Too bad it doesn't quite rise to the level it clearly wanted to.
