Review of Killing Them Softly (2012) by Cameron R — 03 Nov 2013

Mobsters in the White House, mobsters on the street, and Brad Pitt in the middle. There's not much else to glean from this highly stylized killing spree, and unfortunately, the FX is too inconsistent (beautiful shots of a Browning Hi-Power chamber going off messed up by poor perspective and sequencing) and a literally/figuratively wasted James Gandolfini cause this standard mob morality play to fall a bit dull in parts.

.. but all in all, this will be a good time for mob movie enthusiasts looking to see their favorite mobster faces giving their famous mobster dead-eyed glares at each other. 3/5 As it so happens, I enjoyed the film, but it's nothing that'll make it stand out from the pack as a veritable classic.

Look to Breaking Bad for a better perspective (and better 'cool!' POV camera-work) on this timeless trope.
