Review of Killer Party (1986) by Allan C — 04 Dec 2016
I was not really into this horror film for the first and second act, but in the film's third act, it really comes to life and goes into a crazier Evil Dead type of direction. For most of the film I couldn't quite tell, and am still not sure, if this film was trying to be tongue-in-cheek or if it was just a badly made movie.
When I saw Paul Bartel show up in a small part, I thought that may have been a tip-off that this was all tongue-in-cheek, but I still wasn't totally convinced. The story revolves around some girls wanting to join a sorority, but it's also April Fools Day, so there are lots of instances where the audience is supposed to think is real, but then it was just a prank, which gets really annoying fast.
That was most of the first act and in the second act the horny college kids then actually do starting to get killed. Then in the final act we get some crazy stuff with wall crawling demon possessed college kids, which is the the kind of zany horror film fun this film needed a lot more of.
