Review of Kill Your Idols (2012) by Brooke F — 27 Jan 2009
This starts out as a fairly straightforward (though rather fussily edited) doc, and it has some good commentary from Arto Lindsay, Jim Sclavunos, and Jim Thirlwell. That's about all I can say in its favor.
Most of the rest of the film is made up of Lydia Lunch (blecch) and Michael Gira bitterly complaining and being self-aggrandizing, and A.R.E. Weapons (remember them?) being douchebags (surprise!). Some of the then-emerging NYC bands (Black Dice, Liars, YYY) attempt to answer the director's questions seriously and get caught in the crossfire.
What a waste of time.
