Review of Kill List (2011) by Peter B — 14 Sep 2011
For the majority of the running time I Iliterally had no idea where this was going or what it was going to end up being. That's part of what makes it really good but thats also what makes me think I dont know if it would be as good if I saw it again.
It is genuinely unsettling throughout, theres a dark vibe but theres moments of humour (mainly thanks to Tyres from "Spaced) and as it builds and builds to its pitch black final third you will be more gripped by the minute.
Its "Sexy Beast" meets "The Wicker Man" with a hint of "Straw Dogs". Good performances, confidently directed and a breath of fresh air amidst the often predictable tosh usually on offer.
Though be warned even if you aint squeamish - one scene imparticular is pretty nasty. Overall though its the general tone which lingers. So give it a go and like it or not it will certainly stay with you after its over.
Dark stuff man!
