Review of Kill List (2011) by Shoib K — 17 Oct 2011
Singular movie that starts off as one thing and then like an end to a particularly crazy tequila-fuelled Saturday night goes completely gonzo! Tense and ominous from the outset, this British horror has moments of truly graphic violence but they don't at any point feel gratuitous.
Starting off the film mixes various strands (gangster underworldliness/ domestic tension) to generate a sense of menace but no clear endgame. As the film progresses, the pace quickens, the violence escalates and the craziness kicks in.
..until at the end (with its slightly Wicker Man ending) you're almost not sure if the movie's creators are geniuses or slightly "special" con artists. If you enjoy being on the edge for 90 mins this is the movie for you.
....but whoever you are I am not sure anyone would come out afterwards and say they enjoyed it.....
