It's disturbing, difficult to watch occasionally, violent, sick and utterly brilliant. Where it trumps the movies that could also be described as above (apart from the utterly brilliant comment) is the way it's story driven and not just a vehicle for gratuitously spattering blood & brains.
(I'm looking at you Hostel, Saw etc). The likening to Dead Mans Shoes and The Wicker Man will only give a vague notion of what you're about to see. Watch it, but be prepared for a difficult ride.
