Review of Kill List (2011) by Chris G — 23 Jan 2012
This film stuck with me for awhile, mainly because of all the possibilities that evolve from the many open-ended questions presented. Its difficult to describe this film. Its a horror film that presents itself as a thriller with an eerie David Lynch vibe (without being as bizarre as a Lynch film and definitely not non-linear) that.
It is a tad bit predictable in the end, especially if you've seen certain other films that have a similar theme/ending. The acting is superb. Especially when you take into consideration that a good portion of the dialogue was improvised.
The violence is quite strong and unflinching at times, but after awhile you start to understand that that is kind of the point (much like Michael Haneke's "Funny Games"). I highly recommend if you're in the mood for an odd yet engrossing horror/thriller.
