Review of Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004) by Campbell P — 23 Mar 2015

Kill Bill Vol. 2 was similar to Vol. 1 but was different as well. The second part to this Tarantino film series starred the same people from the first part with the inclusion of a brief Samuel L Jackson cameo.

While the second part had more smooth dialogue and interesting conversations, it had less of the fun action that the first part possessed. Part of what made the first part so entertaining for me was the stylish fun action, given that barely any scenes lived up to those standards it made me a bit disappointed.

Vol. 2 wasn't a big disappointment, it did have the cool Tarantino style of filming and it had really cool action scenes but just not as enjoyable as the first. The scene that I absolutely adored in this movie was when Beatrix was training with the samurai and learned the punch move.

The second part also had a really cool origin story which the first did not have. It helped out with story structure and how she learned to fight and why and also had background from the wedding rehearsal.

Without comparing it to the first part, Kill Bill Vol. 2 is in no terms a bad movie. On its own it's still a great action film. The acting was really good as well as their conversations. The cool characters were given a bigger spotlight in my opinion too.

The ending is kind of why I didn't give it another 1/2 star because there was a ton of buildup for the Beatrix vs Bill fight and there was barely any fight and more so discussing. I have no problem with discussions but there almost HAD to be a fight between them.

Throughout she had a ton of angst and was ready to tear the people to shreds. I understand that he was jealous and stuff but I would've liked a fight, I'm sorry. Kill Bill Vol. 2 was still a great action movie that had the same awesome cast and direction that made the first part so likable.
