Review of Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004) by Danny O — 06 Sep 2015
Volume 2 is not as impressive as the first, but it's a great film nonetheless. The engaging and unique story continues with some more depth added to the characters and some much needed backstory for the first film.
It compliments the first film while continuing the story with some great and entertaining scenes. The acting continues to be very strong, and the character motivations are more clear this time. This is however, not as awesome as the first.
There isn't one standout scene of pure style, when you think of this movie you'll remember more details. Volume 1 had better characters and action, and while I'd say the writing is improved, there are scenes that drag on that feel like nothing more than to make the movie feature length.
They aren't boring but they are entirely unnecessary monologues that detract from your involvement and interest in the story. This is still a great conclusion to the story, and provides with some great details to make Volume 1 even better.
