Review of Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003) by Alex R — 13 Jul 2014
It's a lot of squeamish fun. Horrifying and scary. Lots of action and explosions and fight scenes, as much as I find it pretentious, at least it's one of a kind. And there was a lot of work and storytelling in this movie that some weird people might enjoy.
I enjoyed it about a 7/10 because it was so shocking. The second time I watched it it was more of a 6/10 but for being such a unique action and story, somehow, some crazy way, it's actually quite a neat and good movie.
It's hard for me to give something I kind of dislike an 8/10 because I don't need a lot of desperate attempts at making boring movies seem better than they are, simply because I have a lot of happy gadgets that make the desperate, ultra-positive masses seem grumpy, gullible, religious and stupid.
But I had an alright time watching this despite its flaws, and will give it an 8 simply because it was better than a lot of the desperate 7/10 movies I hand out for being solid fun.
