Review of Kikujiro (1999) by Marc B — 25 Jan 2006
A sweet and charming film that the american's find so hard to imitate without pouring on the sacharine. ("Bad Santa" is it's nearest American cousin and that took the no-sentiment at all route) The relationship's here are very believable, even if the film's secondary charecters become a little too silly at times (probably more a victim of japanese humour not travelling as well) and 'Kikujiro' hits all the right notes.
Most of all it's very very funny!
