Review of Kids (2013) by David Ray G — 01 Jun 2010
Sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll without the rock 'n' roll. Larry Clark is a very inhuman director since all the drugs and sex in his movies are usually real, and I find it very strange that 4 of the actors he has worked with "mysteriously" died before the age of 30.
The characters in this movie (except for the girls portrayed by young Rosario Dawson and Chloe Sevigny) are all so impossible to stand. They are cruel and naive and immature - to begin with. And the saddest part is that these people actually exist in real life as well. Maybe Clark's film is a portrait of a slice of the youth of the American Nation, and maybe he pushed all boundaries to the limits, but it doesn't cease being a movie that adds nothing to what you've already seen.
