Review of Kids (2011) by Gabriel A — 13 Jan 2009
Normally I would give a movie like this five stars for pure shock quality. in this case though, the story is actually something that happens on a daily basis which scares the crap out of me. the whole movie is just about teenagers who have sex, do drugs, drink, and do unspeakable things which i've seen happen in real life.
it revolves around two kids in particular, casper and jennie. jennie has just tested positive for HIV yet she has only been with one guy, telly. telly, in the meantime, not knowing about his disease, has one goal, have sex with as many virgins as he can.
jennie's goal is to stop him before he infects more girls but ends up taking some ecstasy and passing out at a local party. meanwhile, casper is the best friend of telly's, and spends his time smoking up, getting drunk, and skateboarding.
this movie is definitely not for the faint of heart, and many will almost immediately dismiss it as unreal and not true, but I advise any of you to really watch your kids or friends. this stuff really does happen.
kudos to the cast for making it very vivid and memorable though.
