Review of Kids (2011) by Lance H — 20 Aug 2010
Kids is a shocking realistic film that shows just how disturbed our American youth is. It shows teenagers destroying their lives with sex, drugs, and violence.
This film centers around a character called Telly who likes to spend his whole day deflowering virgins. He is one of the most despicable characters I've seen in any film. However, he is not the only kid with morale problems. The film shows kids around the age of 10 or 11 smoking weed, it shows about 10 to 20 teenagers beating up one guy for a stupid reason. Then while all of this is happening we soon learning that one of the girls of this group has HIV. Who she got from Telly.
The film is directed well with shocking realism. This accomplish by good performance, documentary style cinematography, and good dialogue.
I admire director Larry Clark's attempt to help wake up our youth, but most importantly help wake up the parents about what is still going on in today's culture. This is a must see for anyone around 15 or 16 and up.
