Review of Kick-Ass (2010) by Brian M — 09 Jun 2013
I am probably going to get a huge backlash for my review of this movie. But, I absolutely hated it, and could not bare to watch the whole thing. It was just way too violent and predictable. And, I found the whole idea of this highschool nerd as a super hero wannabe kind of stupid.
I knew his little fight with the gang members was going to end up on youtube. I knew he was eventually going to be on the stupid mob guys hit list. I also knew that a certain costumed charactor being shot in the head was going to lead to the very next scene being that the wrong person was shot,.
And, our lame hero would be in the very next scene.
I also knew that the cop and his daughter were going to end up fighting bad guys before the very first fight scene where 6 bad guys were taken out. It was just way too predictable, and, the violence was just hard for me to swallow, especially a certain little girl, who seemed to have no problem killing anyone that moved.
I also did not like the whole father/son mob thing. I'm not sure how that all turned out. But, about half way through the movie, I decided that I could have cared less. I hope they both died in the end of the movie, actually every charactor in the movie could be dead, and I would just say thank god. Just means there won't be a kick ass 2.
I just hated it.
Another thing that bothers me about these types of movies, is that the villain is always some wealthy jerk, that can afford to buy hitmen. Yet the people who work for him, always live in run down buildings doing crack...in every single movie.
And the heros are usually smart nerds. It's very tiring.
