Review of Khoya Khoya Chand (2007) by Luveen W — 17 Jan 2008
This is easily the dark horse masterpiece of Bollywood in 2007. What more could one ask for from a movie? Stellar performances; soul-wrenching melodies; opulent imagery; dense, multi-layered grey characters, not just characters with grey shades, unlike most of today's "blockbusters"; and truly, truly visionary direction and visualization.
The blending of the personal and the professional, and the sordid stories of the grand world that is the movies is portrayed with subtlety and intensity at the same time. Other than the fact that Khan probably needs more time to grow as an actor, this is a flawless work.
The film draws you into its time and makes you wish we were still there. A classic!
