Review of Khoya Khoya Chand (2007) by Ajay A — 09 Dec 2007
Well, first impressions were that it is a very complicated movie, but looking back one day later.... it was the lesser evil I chose (over dus kahaniyan) Set in the 50's and 60's, Sudhir Mishra and crew have gone to an amazing amount of detail to recreate the jazz of being in that period what with the sets, the dressing, and all the jing bang of the 50s.
The problem comes in of too much. they try and borrow from the lives of every female actor of that time and make nikhat (soha) come alive! it becomes a khichdi then!
Shiney is good, so is Rajat Kapoor. Rajat somehow has his own charms and he brought em out so well in Bheja Fry and now this (contrarion genres I know!).
But for me, the one happy thing through out the movie was Saurabh Shukla who in the role of a quintessential producer from Punjab comes off as superb and entertaining! :) His one liners were good. Else, the movie is too slow and hence christened as Soya Soya Chand!
