Review of Key Largo (1948) by Art S — 18 Apr 2011
Deported Prohibition-era gangster Johnny Rocco sneaks back into Florida (from Cuba) after WWII and holes up in Lionel Barrymore's hotel during a hurricane. Although fairly stage-bound, the movie speeds along at a good clip.
Bogey is a bit sullen, Bacall is under-used, other familiar character actors hold their own, but Edward G. Robinson is the real scene-stealer here.
