Review of Kelly's Heroes (1970) by Darren G — 27 Jul 2010
It's been...yikes, 20 years since I last saw this, but then again I've never had much of an urge to see it again.
From memory, 'Kelly's Heroes' is not a bad film and it has its moments, thanks to a strong cast and especially a funny movie-stealing performance by Donald Sutherland...
...but to me, 'Kelly's Heroes' is like 'Three Kings' and the Danny Ocean movies - enjoyable enough when you're watching them, but mostly forgettable afterwards because they're rather lightweight and stupid.
Or maybe I'm just a cranky bastard who doesn't like caper movies all that much. Possibly.
Anyway, there are much worse films than 'Kelly's Heroes', but there are many more better ones.
