Review of Keeping Mum (2005) by James K — 04 Oct 2008
One of those classic examples of poor advertising, far from the slapstick generic British comedy I expected, this is in fact something far darker. Comedy yes, but with a thick black streak, and far more subtly underplayed than the casting of Rowan Atkinson in one of the leads might suggest - this is no Mister Bean The Vicar.
The laughs still come, at times thick and fast, but there's always an underlying air of menace that makes the film very watchable. A surprise find.
