Review of Keane (2004) by Jared L — 06 Jun 2007
Damian Lewis gives a powerful and heartbreaking performance in the title role of this intimate character study about a man on frantic search obsessive search to find his abducted daughter. Unable to cope it starts to take its toll on him mentally and he descent into drugs, alcohol and sex but then he he gets involved with a troubled mother and her daughter (played terrifically by "Little Miss Sunshine" star Abigail Breslin), hoping to find some kind of redemption for himself.
Before you can say "T.V. movie of the week", this is an honest film that takes a look at a man who is experiencing loss and guilt in a raw way without being sappy or cliched. Beautifully wriiten and directed, this is another little gem of a film that is worthy of being watched.
