Review of Keane (2004) by Rob C — 05 May 2009
This is one of those movies that engages you right out of the gate. This is impressive becaues not much happens in it. But whether it intrigues you, annoys you, or makes you supremely uncomfortable at first, you'll be rewarded for sticking around until the end.
Kerrigan looks with unflinching honesty at a man tormented by the loss of his daughter (real or imaginary, we don't know) while at the same time struggling to be functional and presentable enough to look after her when she is found.
Breslin, Ryan, and Lewis are mesmerizing to watch, even as we recoil from the daily torment Lewis's character must endure.
