Review of Kamikaze Girls (2004) by Bree V — 11 Jun 2008
I have had this movie in my hands at the video store many times and never quite managed to actually rent it. Fortunately, with Netflix I put it on the queue and when it's next it comes so I watch it since it is here. That was a very good thing with Kamikaze Girls. This is an adorable, funny, and sweet little film about 2 girls who that are complete opposites and how they build a friendship.
It is REALLY cute. There are animation sequences, the one girl, Momoko, spends the whole movie in frilly little girly dresses and her counterpart, Ichiko, is a biker chick. They have nothing in common, and yet the seem to spend more and more time together.
I don't know what moer to say about it, I went into it not knowing anything about it and that was a pleasent experience. The only comparison I could come up with is something like Thelma & Louis meets Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Girls! There you go, make of it what you will.
