Review of Kalifornia (1993) by Senthil M — 24 Jul 2008
Started watching with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised. Brad Pitt's character is really engaging to watch as he dissappears into the character, though now and then he does "over-act" but I guess its probably because he had so much fun playing him. I thought his vernacular was really interesting. This also has to be the only movie where I've seen Juliette Lewis give good performance, as she plays the "uneducated girl with a heart of gold" character here really well.
The story could have used an additional rewrite or so as there are places where the film's flow "stalls", but nevertheless Brad Pitt's character keeps the movie engaging. David Duchovny's character is not developed too well but I guess that was the point since he is supposed to represent "us" observing Brad Pitt's character.
