Review of Kalifornia (1993) by Filippo C — 17 Jun 2009
This film feels somewhat dated; however, it held my attention throughout its entirety. Brad Pitt easily stole the movie with his convincing turn as a murderer who kills for the heck of it. This character shows off some serious acting ability on his part.
As for David Duchovny, he plays the same character he tends to play in everything he is in. This movie was filmed during the early years of the X-Files and his character feels a lot like Mulder, only less interesting.
The ending was filled with a couple questionable actions by Duchovny's character, which made him look incredibly foolish in a time of danger. It was one of those moments that took me out of the movie and say, "No one would be that stupid.
" Kalifornia is a descent film with moments of greatness, but ends up being mediocre.
