Review of Kahaani (2012) by Sandeep C — 18 Mar 2012
Not the typical indian movie where endless songs every 5 minutes or showing the sleek part of town or even affluent side or lifestyle of ultra rich india. Few things I do avoid in Bollywood movies. Copy-cat versions of Hollywood even though they deny it , ridiculous action scenes, lengthy yet pointless dialogues and ofcourse the 3 to 4 hours with the intermission.
Kahaani re-defines the genre and packs a punch. The main hero is Kolkatta as you dont see unless you go there. Raw and captivating. Vidya Balan leads the movie without a doubt along with very subtle yet well executed role by Parambrata Chatterjee. Loved the twists, turns, background scores and the list goes. People might debate on the ending of the movie but it is flawless to think about to that extend. Sujay Ghosh nailed the movie on par with some European art house/Indie movies. And an amazing song sung by Amitabh Bachan.
