I had no idea what this was about before I saw it, just that it was a Kurosawa film. Amazing production all around, including the awesome sets and costumes. The battle scene about 2 hours into the movie was beautifully done.
The acting was great and Kurosawa's direction ruled, as always. Some parts sort of dragged, particularly the last few shots, while emotional, got repetitive. Still, it's an excellent movie.
