Review of Kagemusha (1980) by Daniel S — 28 May 2008
The acting style isn't western and that jars initialy I feel, but once you surmount that you can begin to appreciate this movie for what it is, a masterpiece.
The scenes in the prelude to the climactic battle, as the bannered regiments manoever themselves into position, will stay in my mind's eye forever, both beautiful and terrible simultaneously. Three hours from which every second screams 'genius at work'.
