A great effort, and a curious way of telling a story. The things he chose to include in this film he chose organically, and though he would later re-do this film (essentially, in Ran) there is a good deal of beauty to be had in Kagemusha.
The Criterion Collection blu-ray is worth snagging if you can get a hold of it.
