Kurosawa, Schmurosawa. I liked Ran a lot. The other fedual times/warlord films I've seen of his have left me cold. There's lots of grunting and testosterone and I think that's why film snobs like him.
They can step outside of their inetellectual, effte lives and feel all butch and tough while channeling it through something foreign and smart like Japanese cinema. Wrapped in nori, it's still John Wayne.
