Review of Kabei: Our Mother (2008) by Heather M — 20 May 2009
This quiet and understated tearjerker hits the right notes without overkill, like director Yamada's skill. While meandering at times, the strong performances and characters still attract, and it all ends off on a rather unexpected, but very human coda.
Not his best, but very good nonetheless.
