Review of K-PAX (2001) by Heather S — 24 Aug 2010
"Succeeds in being a satisfying, thought-provoking experience.".
I would have to agree with the above. I watched it twice, by myself and then with others. I would watch it again. I would buy this movie, which I rarely would.
I don't care for Spacey usually, but he plays the role of a supposedly alien visitor from the planet K-Pax. His name is Prot, for what that means I don't know.
Darned if I could figure out if Prot was an alien or not, but he had to be because he left a very secure mental hospital for three days without a trace to go to Greenland on assignment.
The doctor who treats him puts him through tests that a human could not perform, ie he can see ultra violet light, which is why he wears sunglasses all the time.
I loved this movie. It is violent only in retrospect when it goes into Prot's past, or was it really HIS past? The doctor finds his high school yearbook photo in his supposed home town. He lost his family, was thought suicidal because he was never found by the local incompetent police.
A hearty two index fingers up because anything that was so far out yet made believable must have been good.
