Review of K-PAX (2001) by Shahab S — 03 Mar 2012
First of all, K-PAX is probably one of the worst titles I've seen in a while! I'm having mixed reactions with this one. I like the actors too much not like it. I believe it's very difficult for anyone to dislike a film with Spacey and Bridges involved.
Their performances were interesting, and Spacey at times even a little spooky, like he also had a second layer beneath him that was cold and dark that would arise during the scenes of hypnosis. I couldn't stand the hospital setting though, the constant little sub-plots involving the other patients was unnecessary.
The best scenes were the quieter ones with Bridges in Spacey in the office. I though Prot's "departure" was also well handled. It was enjoyable, but certainly not great, the chemistry between the lead actors kept it afloat.
