Review of K-19: The Widowmaker (2002) by Rod S — 09 Aug 2007
Based on a true incident where a Russian submarine in 1961 when the crew of a submarine are contaminated by a faulty reactor core. Two great performances by Harrison Ford as the captain and Liam Neeson who plays the Executive Officer.
Great tension and passion with tensions between the two major characters which leads to near mutiny. Terrible scenes when the crew attempt the repair and the effects of nuclear contamination are reaped by the aforesaid crew culminating in a very emotional reunion some 28 years later with the fall of Communism.
A fine addition to the 'sub-genre' of submarine thrillers.
