Review of K-19: The Widowmaker (2002) by Caleb M — 21 May 2011
Kathryn Bigelow's K-19: The Widowmaker doesn't have the tension to be a thriller, the action to be an action-adventure, or the emotional investment to be a compelling drama. Things happen and we're supposed to care because people shout and talk about how dangerous stuff is. Bigelow explores some interesting aspects of brotherhood and crew loyalty on board this submarine, but the film never feels urgent and doesn't stand out from other naval films.
Also, those accents are atrocious.
