Review of Justice League: War (2014) by Shawn M — 04 Mar 2014
When 'Ultimate Avengers' was released I said, "This is what the live-action Avengers movie should be." I will not say the same about this film.
Like the original source material, there was a lot of action and very little character development. I didn't actually even care about these characters. Given how much I enjoyed the last DC animated film, 'Flashpoint Paradox', I was disappointed with the story narrative, voice acting, and overall quality of this film.
They teased future comic events like the relationship between Superman and Wonder Woman, and a post-credit scene teased 'Throne of Atlantis', which means Aquaman, who took Captain Marvel's place in the original story, will probably show up in the next one.
I did feel like they did do Darkseid right. He was way bigger than the heroes, and seem way more powerful. I hoped the DC animated films would be their salivation from the disturbing route the live-action films are heading. I'm still hoping.
