Review of Justice League: Doom (2012) by Ian G — 23 Mar 2013
As far as the DCU Animated features go, this one ranked as an average one with strong animation we have come to expect but a story that may have been leftover from the days of JLU or may have already been done just rejigged in terms of characters involved.
Based on the Tower of Babel Graphic novel, Doom touches on a new Legion of Doom that is assembled by underutilized or underknown to the mass public Vandel Savage, who steals Batman's contingency plans to neutralize the League with their own worse fears and weaknesses to implement a doomsday scenario to bring back civilization to a stone-age scenario for which he would be the supreme ruler.
Pretty predictable stuff and since all the villains in the legion are the second tear or unknown variety, it is a little hard to get excited outside of a cool action set piece or two. Might have been cooler if Batman was kicked out of the league for good at the end rather than getting the piece offering from Supes, but overall good craftmanship for a stock story.
