Review of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) by Däkümi D — 23 Jun 2018
If you're not looking for anything new and are happy with what amounts to another dinosaur slasher flick then Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is for you. I, however, was hoping for a few new ideas some 25 years after the original left us in awe.
This time, Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard), with emphasis on the fact she's wearing boots not tearing around an island in high heels, and Owen (Chris Pratt) are lured back to the island by billionaire Benjamin Lockwood (James Cromwell), who was a former partner of dinosaur creator John Hammond, to help save the dinosaurs from an erupting volcano and second extinction.
But, naturally, there's something underhanded going on. Somehow, humans stupidly think they can control these beasts and want to profit from them. There's a number of very cool scenes, as you'd expect, but it's all so predictable.
Maybe it's time we stopped watching these retreads, we've seen it all before, and they'll stop being made! Overall, it's entertaining enough but doesn't break any ground. Predictably, also, we are left open for another sequel.
