Review of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) by Pricila D — 25 Jun 2018
A Universal Studios roller coaster ride full of sloppy writing and horrific violence and near zero blood, to maximize children's trauma while keeping the nonsensical movie rating system intact.
I gave this movie two stars because it managed to do something original (it opened underwater, featuring a very cool sea monster, which is something no other Jurassic Park movie has done) and because it features a very cool well done exploding volcano. After this, the movie is typical fall-apart garbage typical of everything since the original Jurassic Park.
Perhaps the most disturbing feature that is becoming more apparent with the Jurassic line of movies, is the amount of very grisly violence. We see people torn limb from limb. Eaten alive. Decapitated. But to keep the rating below R, we see almost no blood. So the droves and droves of children herded into the theatres by obedient parents are treated to a strange spectacle of mannequin-like human caricatures being torn to pieces with no blood. Is the intent to desensitize them to reptillian mayhem? It appears. We also see a young girl discovering her grandpa dead in bed. A strange and mature theme to throw in to what is essentially a Universal Studios thrill ride, as was evidenced in my viewing - a good 90% of the seats were people in the D-box thrill ride seats. If you can't see this movie whilst sitting in a roller-coaster, you should not see it at all.
