Review of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) by Manuel B — 10 Aug 2018
The first half of the movie felt very rushed and almost... dumb? to me.The entire premise of saving the dinosaurs seems almost made on the fly. The second half of the movie truly showed what prowess J.A. Bayona had as a gothic and horror film director, which saved my expectations of this movie. The hint that was showed that the Indoraptor was not even truly a dinosaur, instead a genetically modified devil-incarnate designed to look like a dinosaur. I feel the haunted mansion setting, with that feeling of "a scaled monster who gets a kick out of savagely murdering people, is looking for you." works amazingly. The final part, with the Indoraptors death was also rushed, and it could have been done MUCH better than before.
My consensus? This movie needed far more time than the deadline was given to get it out to create. The second half of the movie definitely needed work, as all movies are not perfect. However compared to its corresponding sibling, that is, the first half, it is much better, and well done.
In the grand scheme of movies, this movie does better than any average movie does. However, in the scheme of Jurassic Park movies, I could fairly say this is the worst JP movie to ever come out, all due to a lack of time to truly unleash its full potential.
B+.
