Review of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) by Clutch_Cobra — 12 Jul 2018
You've seen this film before. It is every action film where a handsome guy gets pulled out of his newly found calm life by a beautiful woman who needs his help. But with dinosaurs.
With that being said, I'd totally watch the film I just described above, if it wasn't intently marketed to children, and by doing so, removed itself from being able to do anything interesting, controversial or original with that concept. Jurassic Park unfortunately falls short of being anything besides a formulated cash grab, because its an ip that audiences are still unfortunately interested in. It really could be turned into something amazing, like the Mission Impossible franchise, or at least more fun like the Fast and Furious franchise, where they clearly have a self awareness of how ridiculous their premises are. And in doing so, have become far more enjoyable to watch. But no, we're forced to take a 6th installment of the same dinosaur franchise very very very seriously, and suspend any disbelief of modern society immediately terminating any and all discussion of yet another genetically modified super dinosaur. Which, in some ways is a metaphor for the film itself.
