Review of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) by David L — 30 Jun 2018
J. A. Bayona is an excellent director, but he disappointed me so much with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom as he did not manage to elevate the material at all. The film is superbly shot, some action scenes are a lot of fun and the two protagonists are a good couple, but the film struggled in its dialogue which is terrible, the villains are horribly one-note, the two adolescents are simply insufferable and even though it's commendable that they tried something different in the script department, they nonetheless failed at the story owing to such bad writing and whenever the film tried to be serious, it was boring and unsophisticated.
It's at its best when being a mindless and fun spectacle. Overall, it's pretty much of the same quality as its predecessor.
