An unnecessary third Jurassic Park film without Spielberg at the helm was sure to set alarm bells ringing, let's face it Spielberg's own sequel went off the rails. The return of Neill as Dr. Grant, and briefly Dern as Dr.

Sattler raise the credibility at first, but it soon becomes clear that they're simply there for a paycheck. The story is fairly nauseating, with Grant and his young protege Brennan, plus some disposable private security types, lured onto Ingen Site B to try and rescue a divorced American couple's son stranded there after a parasailing accident.

Macy and Leoni are just plain irritating and the script is face-palmingly clunky. Some of the action and attack sequences show some flair and imagination, using the sequences discarded from the original novel including the Pterosaur aviary and river attack scene.

Despite 7-8 years of CGI advancements the animals themselves are only slightly improved, but this further widens the gap between mixing CGI and animatronics making many of the dinosaur scenes feel disjointed.

There are also some incongrous attempts at comedy including a satellite phone ring audible from inside the new king of JP, the Spinosaurus.
